CJSC had a general meeting on 9th June.

A few points of interest came out.

Firstly a big congratulations must go to Charlie McPherson and Erin Holder for making the U12 girls Riverina team to be played in Dubbo in October.

Dylan McDermott has made the U14s Riverina side to be played in Wagga in July and Thomas Meehan has made the U15s Riverina sides to enjoy sunny Orange in July.

These 4 players will compete in the State Titles against many of their city counterparts at a very high level of football and is an essential part of the recognised pathway for State team selection.

Kya Godbier and Kirralee Cameron, along with Charlie and Erin, have been selected in the U12 Riverina school girls team to play in state trials at the end of this month in Bateau Bay.  Well Done Girls!

Next, Pathways will start on:

Monday 15 June, at 5.45 pm until 7.30 at the Cootamundra Country Club Oval.

Cost: $60 coaching fee, $60 Kit fee (The kit (uniform) is only required for players who have not done pathways before, as others will already have it). Payment can be made on the first session of the program.

It is open to all players, not just South West Slopes Representatives, from 10 to 15 years.

CJSC will be competing in several local carnivals.

Forbes is 26th July

Denis Moore is the coordinator and doing a great job representing our club.  He needs managers and players in the different age groups.  Talk to him!!

The NSW State Titles under 15s boys football carnival was held in Orange during the week of July 13th-17th.  Thomas Meehan was the only South West Slopes player to make the team which is made up of boys from Griffith, Wagga, Albury and SWS branches to form the Country Riverina team.  They compete against

Metro South, Metro Far South, Metro North, Metro Far North, Metro East, Metro West, Country Southern and Country Western.

Riverina’s draw card ended up with

Metro Far South            1-1 draw

Metro South                   3-1 loss

Metro North                   1-4 win

Country West                 0-0 draw

Metro East                      4-4 draw

Metro West                     8-0 loss

Country Southern            0-3 win

Metro Far North              2-2 draw

Country Riverina won the FNSW Country Championships which is decided by the overall point score from the carnival with 2 wins and 4 draws.  Metro West won the carnival with Metro East coming runners up.

The boys best game came against Met East holding them to a 4-4 draw.  Riverina scored first putting the favoured defending title holders on the back foot.

Strong wins against Met North and Southern were moral builders with an unlucky draw against Met Far North in the last game a negative.  We led 2-0 up until 50 seconds into extra time when they clawed back the draw.

The team was coached by Mr Football Wagga Wagga, Michael Schmid who was very happy with the teams results.

The average Temperature in Orange for the games was 4 degrees.

All teams would be aware there is a ground setup and takedown roster and teams have been fulfilling their obligations.  If you have never been present when the ground and nets have been set up it might be an idea that someone from each team attend one morning while the nets are being put up to get an idea as to how it is done.  Its not hard but there is a correct way they must be put up.  Ground set up usually begins around 8am, yep that is correct, parents (usually the same ones each week) actually go down there in the cold and put them up.  You really didn’t think Harry Potter put the nets up and were just hanging there waiting for you to arrive for your game.
